The Dowell lab has been in Monterey, California, for Fungal Genetics 2026 this week.
Lori Pradhan presented “Evolutionary Patterns of a Plant-Pathogenic Fungus Botrytis,” including a discussion of how approaches to Botrytis taxonomy have changed as sequence data complement morphological comparisons. The photographs capture her talk at Asilomar.
Conferences bring our work into conversation with a broader community of researchers studying fungi. For our group, these connections are especially relevant to questions about fungal growth, genetic variation, and interactions with plant hosts.
The trip has also offered time together beyond the lab, alongside the conference program and poster activities. Thanks to everyone who helped make the visit possible!
